FrequentlyAsked Questions

  • Are you licensed to conduct this?
Yes, we are fully licensed to conduct Natural Organic Reduction. Our staff includes licensed funeral directors who have undergone specialized NOR education to ensure every step of the process is carried out correctly, ethically, and with the utmost respect. You can trust us to handle your loved one’s transformation with professionalism and care.
  • How fast is the process?
Natural Organic Reduction (human composting) typically takes about 30 to 60 days to complete. During this time, the body is transformed into nutrient-rich soil through a controlled process of microbial activity, warmth, and oxygen. Afterward, the soil is cured for a few additional weeks before it is ready to be returned to the family.
  • Are organ donors allowed to be composted?
Yes, you can donate your organs and still choose human composting. However, organ donation typically requires the individual to pass away in a hospital, where specialized equipment keeps the organs viable until retrieval. Medical professionals remove the organs within a few days. Full body donation to medical schools and research programs often involves embalming, which prevents natural organic reduction. Some programs, however, freeze the body instead of embalming. If you're considering full body donation, we recommend checking with the program to confirm whether non-embalmed donation is an option.
  • How much does the process cost?
Our NOR package for Arizona residents begins at $5,450 while out of state begins at $5,950. Please reference our "Pricing" tab for more information on what is included in these packages.
  • Can you service out of state individuals?
We welcome clients from across the country who wish to choose Natural Organic Reduction in Arizona. Our team will assist in coordinating transportation, ensuring a smooth and respectful process. Transport costs vary based on location and will need to be considered as part of your arrangements. Pricing is determined on a case by case basis, and we’re here to help you explore the best options. • What happens to the inorganic objects such as pacemakers, metal implants, fillings, etc?
Devices like pacemakers are removed before the process begins, especially because they can pose a safety risk. As for other items like metal implants or fillings they don’t break down naturally, so once the NOR cycle is complete, we carefully sift through the remaining material to remove them. Those items are then either recycled (if possible) or disposed of in a responsible and environmentally friendly way.
  • What states is natural organic reduction legal in?
Fourteen states have legalized Natural Organic Reduction as a legal form of disposition, with several others currently considering legislation. See the full legality map below for more details.
